Metsulfuron-methyl
Description
Metsulfuron-methyl is a selective systemic herbicide that kills broadleaf weeds and some grasses. The word 'selective' means it can kill weeds while leaving your crops unharmed, but only if you use it on the right crops. The word 'systemic' means that when you spray it on weeds, it gets absorbed into the plant and moves throughout it, killing it from the inside. When you apply metsulfuron-methyl to weeds, they will start to turn yellow and die within a week or two. It works especially well on annual and perennial broadleaf weeds and some grasses. One of the advantages of metsulfuron-methyl is that it has residual activity, which means it continues to work in the soil for several weeks after application, providing ongoing weed control. It's commonly used in wheat fields, barley fields, and some other grass crops. However, it's very important to know that metsulfuron-methyl can damage or kill many other crops, so you must only use it on crops that are specifically listed on the label. Also, metsulfuron-methyl can stay in the soil for a long time and can affect crops that you plant later in the same field. You must wait the required number of days (usually 30-60 days or more) after application before planting other crops in the same field. You can use it on grass crops when weeds are actively growing. Always wait the required number of days (usually 7-14 days) after spraying before harvesting your crops. Always follow the label instructions very carefully and wear protective clothing when using this product.
